Jersey Harbor respects the work of photographers, illustrators, designers and writers, and expects the same from everyone who uses our site. This page explains how to tell us if you believe something on jerseyharbor.shop copies your copyrighted work, what information we need, and what we do with a notice. For trademarks, team and league marks, and other kinds of intellectual property, see our Intellectual Property Policy.
Copyright notices in one look
- Where to send: support@jerseyharbor.shop, subject line “Copyright notice”.
- What to include: the six items listed in section 3.
- Acknowledgement: within 24 hours on business days.
- Outcome: material that infringes is removed or disabled, and we tell you by email.
- Who we are: Jersey Harbor, 4635 W Aberdeen Pl, Littleton, CO 80123, US.
1. What content is on our site
Jersey Harbor is a single online shop, not a marketplace. There are no third-party sellers on jerseyharbor.shop. The content you see here falls into a few groups:
- Our designs: the jersey prints and lettering styles such as the Ballpark script, the Sunday League script, the Bleacher Crew arch, pinstripe and chest-stripe patterns, and the accessory prints;
- Images: product images, the branded placeholder images shown while product photos are being prepared, and banner images on the homepage and collection pages;
- Text: product descriptions, collection descriptions, help pages and policies;
- Our brand: the Jersey Harbor name, the JH stitched-arc logo and the site design.
Customers do not publish content on the site: there are no public reviews, photo galleries or comment sections. Personalisation that customers type — a back name, a number, a front word — is printed on their own order only and is not displayed publicly on the site.
2. The law this process follows
This page follows the notice-and-takedown process of the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). We apply the same process to notices from rights holders in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere, so you do not need to be in the United States to use it.
3. What your notice must include
To act on a notice, we need all six of the following. Missing items are the most common reason a notice is delayed.
- Signature. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or of a person authorised to act for them. Typing your full legal name at the end of the email is an acceptable electronic signature.
- The original work. A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been copied, with a link to where it appears if it is online.
- The material on our site. The exact URL of each page on jerseyharbor.shop where the material appears, and which image, design or passage you mean. If several products are involved, list each URL.
- Your contact details. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- Good-faith statement. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- Accuracy statement. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
Send the notice to support@jerseyharbor.shop with the subject line “Copyright notice”. Email is our only support channel, which also gives both sides a clear written record.
4. What a complete notice looks like
You are welcome to write your notice in your own words. As a guide, a complete notice usually reads something like this:
Subject: Copyright notice. “I am the photographer who took the photo of a cream pinstripe jersey published on my portfolio site at the address given below. The same photo appears on your product page at the exact jerseyharbor.shop URL I list here, as the second gallery image. I did not license it to you. My name, postal address, phone number and email are below. I have a good-faith belief that this use is not authorised by me, my agent or the law. The information in this notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I am the owner of the copyright. Signed, followed by my full name.”
A notice written this way contains all six items, so we can act on it without needing to write back for more details.
5. Notices sent by agents, lawyers and agencies
If you are writing on behalf of a rights holder — as a lawyer, a licensing agency or a photo agency — please say so in the notice, name the rights holder you represent and confirm that you are authorised to act for them. If you send notices for many works, one email per product page makes it easier to track each case, though a single email listing several URLs is also fine as long as each one is clearly identified.
6. What we do with a notice
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1. Acknowledgement | We confirm we received your notice within 24 hours on business days. |
| 2. Completeness check | If any of the six items is missing, we tell you what is needed. |
| 3. Review | We compare the material on our site with the work you describe. |
| 4. Action | If the notice is valid, we remove the material or disable access to it, which can include taking a product off sale. |
| 5. Confirmation | We email you to confirm what was done. |
If a product design is removed, existing orders for it are handled fairly with the customers concerned, which may include offering a different design or a refund.
Images shown while photos are being prepared
Some product pages may temporarily show a plain branded image with the Jersey Harbor logo instead of a product photo. Those images are our own. If you believe a product photo that replaces one of them copies your work, the process above applies in the same way.
Designs on products you bought from us
If you bought a jersey from us and later believe its design copies someone else’s work, you can tell us at the same address. We look into it in the same way as a notice from a rights holder, and you keep all your rights under our Returns & Exchanges Policy.
How quickly material comes down
Once we have a complete and valid notice, we act on it as soon as we have reviewed it, and we tell you by email when it is done. Products that are removed stop appearing on the site, in collection pages and in our site search.
7. Counter-notification
If material is removed after a notice and the person or business who supplied that material believes the removal was a mistake or a misidentification, they may send a counter-notification to the same email address. It must include a physical or electronic signature; identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal; a statement under penalty of perjury that they have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; their name, address and telephone number; and a statement that they consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for their address (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which Jersey Harbor may be found) and will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice. We forward valid counter-notifications to the original sender. Unless the original sender tells us that they have filed a court action, the material may be restored 10 to 14 business days after we receive the counter-notification.
8. Before you send a notice
A few things are worth checking first, because they are not copyright problems:
- General ideas and styles. Pinstripes, piping, raglan sleeves, a button placket, a script word with a tail, varsity block letters and crossed bats are common elements of baseball clothing. Copyright protects a specific creative expression, not the general idea of a striped jersey.
- Common words and numbers. Words such as Mom, Dad, Fan, Rookie or Little Slugger, and plain numbers, are not owned by anyone through copyright.
- Trademarks. If your concern is a team name, league mark, logo or brand, that is a trademark matter; please use the process in our Intellectual Property Policy.
If you are not sure whether something infringes your rights, you may want to get legal advice before sending a notice.
9. False or misleading notices
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), a person who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Please make sure your notice is accurate.
10. Our own content
Our designs, product descriptions, page text and logo are our own work. If you find them copied on another website, marketplace or social media account, we would be grateful if you let us know at support@jerseyharbor.shop with the link.
11. Repeat infringement
If we find that any supplier or partner repeatedly provides material that infringes copyright, we stop using material from them.
12. Records and privacy
We keep copyright notices and counter-notifications, and our replies, as a record of how each case was handled. If a counter-notification is sent, we share the original notice with the person who sent it, as the law expects, but we only share the contact details needed for the process. Details about how we handle personal information in general are in our Privacy Policy.
Notices can be written in English. If English is not your first language, a short, clear notice with the six items is all we need; there is no special form to fill in and no fee for sending a notice.
13. Contact
For copyright matters, email support@jerseyharbor.shop; we reply within 24 hours on business days. For general questions, visit Contact Us. See also our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
We would always rather hear about a concern early. If you are unsure whether to send a formal notice, a short informal email describing what you found is welcome too; we will reply and explain what we need to look into it properly. Formal notices and informal questions both go to the same address and are read by the same people. Thank you for helping us keep the shop original and fair to the people who create images and designs.
